Inside this tall, slate-roofed building, a whole series of devices, pulleys and belts have been intertwined since 1841.
Here we are in 1841, under the reign of Louis Philippe 1st, King of the French.
On March 12, the Chamber of Deputies passed the first social law.
It was henceforth forbidden to employ children under the age of 8 in factories. From 8 to 12 years old, working hours must not exceed 8 hours, and from 12 to 16 years old, 12 hours with rest periods.
Since then, not a single machine has been moved, and 3 wars have not put an end to it. Each carding machine, each loom has remained anchored in the precise spot wisely assigned to it by Jean Chabbert, founder of the spinning mill.
The spinning mill was bought by the Ramond family in 1926.
The 10 employees who once ran the mill (day and night) were succeeded only by Louis Ramond (because the mill had not been brought up to standard and was therefore forbidden to employ workers).
The commune of Lacaune has bought the factory in order to preserve the machines, which are on the supplementary list of historic monuments and form part of our village's heritage.
