Ruins of the Saint-Raphaël castle

In the Middle Ages, Ambialet became the seat of the Viscounty of Trencavel, rivals of the Counts of Toulouse, and was then occupied by Simon de Monfort during the crusade against the Albigensians. The Counts of Albi built a fortress of which some ruins remain.

On the road to Albi, 100 metres after the hotel de la Parenthèse, on the left, take a fairly steep path (not accessible to pushchairs, people with reduced mobility or with walking difficulties). The climb lasts 10-15 minutes, at the top of the rocky fault, enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the peninsula of Ambialet!
