Dance Workshop with Khady SARR—Senegalese Dancer

The Ebenbao Association is organizing a workshop with dancer and choreographer Khady SARR,
A native of the Medina in Dakar (Senegal), Khady embodies her Senegalese heritage through dance, particularly the Sabar, which she learned as a child to the rhythms of traditional festivals and rituals.
Her style, both graceful and energetic, draws on a variety of influences: training in Mandinka dance with Joe Bousenzy (the “Forêt Sacrée” Ballet in Dakar), followed by contemporary dance training with Alain Gonotey (Compagnie Lullaby) in France. In Bordeaux, she honed her skills with Adama Camara and Ousmane Gallo Soumah (Ballets Africains de Guinée) and collaborated with Vincent Harisdo on his solo piece “Racines.” To deepen her mastery of the body, she also trained in Yogalates and Pilates in Cannes.
For Khady, dancing is first and foremost about feeling good in both body and mind. She helps everyone connect with the earth to find their balance and let their energy rise, like a tree with deep roots.
Senegalese Sabar dance and Mandinka dance are on the program.
