Sculpting and Smoking Workshop

Laure Giraudeau welcomes you to her studio, Faire et Maginer, for a two-day workshop to introduce you to this technique or help you improve your skills.

Modeling is a sculpting technique practiced on malleable materials, primarily plastic earths such as clay and loam. Smoking a piece means subjecting it to the whims of the wind, humidity, and the smoke released by plants as they burn slowly. Once again, the plants play a vital role depending on their composition, and depending on how dry they are, they will release varying amounts of water vapor—beautiful white vapor that rises in swirls from the earth toward the sky.

These workshops take place over one day for the shaping session, followed by a half-day session a few weeks later for the smoking process.

- April 18 workshop: shaping from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a potluck lunch break.
The smoking session will take place on May 9 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

- May 16 workshop: shaping from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a potluck lunch break.
The firing will take place on June 13 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
