Tarn Tourist Railroad – A Ride on a Small Train

The train departs from the charming little station of the Tarn Steam Trams. It then enters a village street, passes in front of the Industrial Railroad Museum, and runs along the shoulder of the local road. It crosses the Agout River over the Salles Viaduct—the largest engineering structure ever built in France for a very narrow-gauge railway—and is overlooked by the pottery village of Giroussens. After crossing the plain, it climbs up the hillside through the Garrigole Woods and makes a stop at Lascaze in the shade of the oak trees. The conductor will tell you about the history of the old steam trams and introduce you to the association’s activities. The train then continues to the Halte des Martels, the temporary terminus. You’ll watch as the locomotive is repositioned at the front of the train before heading back down to the Saint-Lieux station.
The ride lasts about 50 minutes.
