Former commandery of the Templars housing a museum dedicated to the painter Marcel Lenoir.
Initially attracted by illumination, he moved to Paris at the age of thirteen. His art remained symbolist until 1912, when he assimilated cubism, which he reproduced according to his own ideas, using superimposed planes and facets. Exploring Neo-Impressionism and Pointillism, he became friends with Modigliani, Léger and Picasso in Montparnasse. An excellent portraitist and remarkable draftsman, Marcel-Lenoir happily synthesized the pictorial experiences of the early 20th century. Figurative, he favored human beings and religious themes, which he treated in a very personal way. Unfortunately, his technical rigor meant that he was sidelined at a time when abstraction was developing. He died in Montricoux in 1931. Claude Namy has chosen to pay homage to Marcel-Lenoir by creating, in the former Templar commandery decorated with 13th century frescoes, the museum that the painter dreamed of during his lifetime. From 01/05 to 30/09, every day except Tuesday from 10 am to 6 pm.
