Visite guidée de la centrale hydroélectrique d’Ambialet

It is in the heart of Ambialet that the 5th hydroelectric power station of the Saut du Tarn factory was built in 1913.
It can be visited on summer, from 9 on july to 26 september on tuesdays and thursdays at 11 am.

In Ambialet, the Tarn makes a long loop of 3 km. When the river seems to turn back, the peninsula of Ambialet is only about 30 metres wide. This unique site, which was for more than two centuries the most important stronghold of the Albigensian region, still bears the traces of a prestigious past. It is in the heart of this site that the 5th hydroelectric power station of the Saut du Tarn factory was built in 1913.
This summer, EDF, which operates this power station, invites us to discover this exceptional place, full of history.

"The construction in this magnificent, rough and wild place, called for my Parisian father's desire to respect such a beautiful nature. His project, which was immediately accepted by the Board of Directors of the Saut du Tarn, recognised the qualities of the engineer who combined the need for the work with the beauty of the site", recalls the daughter of the architect André Nibart.
