St. Jammes Chapel and Beech Tree

In the quiet mountain, a lesson of prolific patience is given. Let's listen !

From Soreze, take the direction of Arfons and let you be guided by this road through the Black Mountain. St. Jammes place is located in a forest clearing. You will be able to watch the foundations of a preromanesque chapel built in the 11th century and a wonderful 450-year-old beech tree. The chapel was a stop on the Way of St. James.

Destroyed during the French Revolution, the chapel was covered by a mound. Today, it is still possible to see the 1.50-meter-high walls. The choir is delimited by two pilliars bases and the beech tree overlooks the vestiges of the abse.

Hikers or history lovers, no matter who you are: you will appreciate this monument.
